Dr Cameron Brown

I lead a small group working on experimental photonics and mechanics, complemented by computational modelling, of biomedical and biological materials. With a focus on musculoskeletal tissues and related biomaterials on the nanometre to millimetre scales, our philosophy is to use structure as the basis for understanding the mechanical and biological function, and to apply this understanding to the development of new diagnostic and treatment approaches. We also study the structure and mechanics of other high performance biological materials such as spider silk and ivory.
