My research focuses on the application of physical acoustics principles to problems in biomedical acoustics, industrial ultrasonics, acoustical oceanography, and biomedical imaging and therapy at the intersection of light and sound. Current and former activities include sonoluminescence (light from sound), bubble/cavitation dynamics, acousto-optic sensing and imaging in diffuse media, ultrasound enhancement of photo-acoustic emissions, and the use of laser light and gold nanoparticles for controlled cavitation production.
