Dr Huriye Atilgan is a Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow in Oxford’s Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, studying how deep brain structures like the claustrum influence value‐based decision making and cortical computations. She combines behavioural experiments, optogenetic circuit manipulations, two- and three-photon microscopy (with adaptive optics), and electrophysiology to explore how the claustrum modulates variability, responsiveness and network dynamics in prefrontal cortex during learning and choice. Her work seeks to bridge mechanistic neuroscience and advanced imaging methodology.
