Professor Ludmilla Steier is Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Oxford whose research addresses solar-driven conversion of small molecules (CO₂, water) into fuels and chemicals using photo- and electrocatalysts. Her work emphasizes designing and controlling catalyst surfaces and interfaces, particularly focusing on defect chemistry to enhance activity, selectivity, and long-term stability. She is developing atomic layer deposition (ALD) methods to grow catalysts with clean, controlled surfaces, and investigating how dopants affect photocatalytic performance. Her group explores a range of oxide materials including oxide perovskites and increasingly also sulfide photocatalysts.
