Dr Gianfelice Cinque is Principal Beamline Scientist at Diamond Light Source - UK, heading the MIRIAM (Multimode InfraRed Microscopy and Imaging) beamline B22, a facility combining IR microscopy andhyperspectral imaging capabilities with high spatial resolution and broadband synchrotron radiation. His research centres on applying IR microspectroscopy and imaging to topics in biomedicine, materials science, and cultural heritage - for example, mapping molecular distributions cells and tissues, probing vibrational modes in metal organic frameworks, or characterising historical pigments. He is also developing advanced techniques in near-field IR nanospectroscopy and TeraHertz spectroscopy to push spatial resolution and molecular sensitivity beyond conventional limits.
Collaborating with Prof. Jin-Chong Tan and team at the MMC labs, he is research fellow at the Engineering Sciences Department of the University of Oxford since 2021.
